Show your appreciation to your customers

I just made this post in another forum, in response to showing customer appreciation.
==========================
Don’t make the mistake of thinking that the only time to appreciate customers is the holidays.
You can show it in many many ways.
the first is to over deliver, not only to your customers but to your prospects as well.
If your customers come in expecting just to get served, make sure to add a smile. Goes a long way.
If a customer complains, show your appreciation not by saying they are wrong, but by listening. And work to assure them that you will address their issues. Many times you will find you had to take no further action, just listening is often enough.
If you have colleted items like birthdays, anniversaires, childrens special dates, etc. Send cards then, and don’t forget the old fashioned phone call. I often get a kick out of calling clients and hearing their reactions. In most cases they never expect to hear from Internet based businesses.
Show your appreciation by taking notes. What does the client do, what are there hobbies, kids names, etc. Refer to this info from time to time. Let them know you are truly interested.
I had to take off this summer because of my fathers terminal illness. Some of my clients and some of the merchants to whom I am a client knew this. Those that gave kind words stick out, because they remembered something about me.
