Show your appreciation to your customers

I just made this post in another forum, in response to showing customer appreciation.

==========================

Don’t make the mistake of thinking that the only time to appreciate customers is the holidays.

You can show it in many many ways.

the first is to over deliver, not only to your customers but to your prospects as well.

If your customers come in expecting just to get served, make sure to add a smile. Goes a long way.

If a customer complains, show your appreciation not by saying they are wrong, but by listening. And work to assure them that you will address their issues. Many times you will find you had to take no further action, just listening is often enough.

If you have colleted items like birthdays, anniversaires, childrens special dates, etc. Send cards then, and don’t forget the old fashioned phone call. I often get a kick out of calling clients and hearing their reactions. In most cases they never expect to hear from Internet based businesses.

Show your appreciation by taking notes. What does the client do, what are there hobbies, kids names, etc. Refer to this info from time to time. Let them know you are truly interested.

I had to take off this summer because of my fathers terminal illness. Some of my clients and some of the merchants to whom I am a client knew this. Those that gave kind words stick out, because they remembered something about me.

A lesson in choosing domain names.

A lesson in choosing domain names.

I was on a teleseminar call this morning with Willie Crawford. He was giving advice on how to check your website in different browsers.

He said go to www.anybrowser.com. What the user heard over the phone, phonetically, was go to www. N E browser.com.

Of course that was not correct, but NE sounds like ANY.

So, when choosing domain name sound them out and write them out. You want to make sure if at all possible that the user gets the name right, the first time. They may not wait around to give you a second chance.

My friend was using ….. and his site was leaking branding

He was using a service that shortens his URL.

Well his domain was only 8 characters long. So, I asked him, why.

He wants to send visitors to longer url inside his site: example:
www.kelvinbrown.com/this_is_a_really_long_domain_URL.html

There are 2 basics ways to shorten this to something like.
www.kelvinbrown.com/long

If u have access to FTP u can use a .htaccess file.
Or you can use a simple refresh command in the header of your html file.

Either way, I get to keep my branding.

Most people should not be using services that shorten your URL, and take away from your branding.

Google video service

While it’s still free, I thought I would try Google video upload service, while it is still free.

Everything worked good enough, but as usually, I had to download a google program to upload my videos. Why, couldn’t I just upload using ftp. So, what’s going to happen with the program I downloaded?

The reason I uploaded the videos is to see if it will bring more traffic to my local blog, for Washington DC.

I loaded a few videos, you can find the first one by going to video.google.com and searching for ”
